Mining Engineer

The Mount Belches Mining area is comprised of two shallow, narrow vein, underground Gold mines, with a further Open Pit mine currently undergoing feasibility and approvals. The ore is contained in a series of structurally controlled, high-grade lodes, with the Gold hosted in a highly faulted SIF. Ore drives are mined under Geology control using long hole stoping and airleg mining methods.THE ROLE:We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mining Engineer who is looking for experience in the smaller scale, technically challenging mining methods that Mount Belches mining area has to offer. Working across two underground mines, your key responsibility will be to develop optimised stope notes, drill and blast designs, short term schedules, and assist with mine ventilation management. You will be mentored and developed with the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time, including exposure to medium and long term mine planning. You will have an influential and autonomous role, with plenty of opportunity to grow; two of the main benefits of a smaller mine environment.Other responsibilities will include:Development and implementation of Drill and Blast designsDevelop, maintain and update the short and medium term plans and schedulesProvide support to ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, as well as company environmental and safety standards;Undertake primary and secondary ventilation surveysWork closely with the Underground Contractor to implement the mine plan;Contribute to the development and implementation of weekly, monthly and quarterly mine plansComplete mine projects as requiredPrepare weekly and monthly production reportsUndertake regular inspections and auditing of contractor activitiesABOUT YOU:You are a talented, highly motivated individual with a hard-working attitude and a creative approach to problem solving. You have demonstrated experience in delivering safe and economic mine plans to deadlines, and you thrive on a challenge.You have:Formal tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related disciplinePrevious experience in underground mining, with narrow vein Gold experience an advantageProficient use of MS Office suite and relevant mining software, including DatamineWorking knowledge and understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and RegulationsPartial or full completion of Underground time toward your FCMM Certificate would be preferredGood understanding of mine ventilation systems and associated statutory requirementsUnderstanding of geotechnical issues and operational infrastructure requirements in underground environmentsCurrent WA "C" Class Driver’s LicenseCurrent ‘Apply First Aid’ CertificateThe role is offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster back-to-back with another Mining Engineer, enjoying the variety of a technically challenging and diverse role. You will have the autonomy to make your mark on a mine, whilst having the stability of an established and financially secure company.
