THE ROLE:Your key responsibility as Graduate Geotechnical Engineer at the Deflector Gold/Copper underground mine, is to optimise mine infrastructure development through the application of rock mechanics principals. Working closely with a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, your will provide geotechnical input into mine design and planning and be a key part of the Deflector team. You will work closely with multiple members of the Technical Services team in this varied and interesting role, giving you a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop your skills as a Geotechnical Engineer.Key responsibilities of this role will include:Regular geotechnical inspections of underground operationsEnsure adherence to the Ground Control Management Plan, and assist in annual reviewMonitor open pits and underground access stabilityValidation, interpretation and collection of geological dataOperator and installed ground support auditsProvide geotechnical information/assessments to ensure optimal extraction of ore while conforming to the GCMPCarry out stability analysis of excavations through kinematic, empirical and numerical techniquesMaintain strong work relationships between technical and operational staffActively promote ground awareness trainingABOUT YOU:You are an excellent team player who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated, with a passion for Geotechnics and a high attention to detail. Your ability to build rapport with a wide range of people will see you excel in this role.In addition to this you have:Recent completion or final year of Bachelor of Civil or Mining Engineering or Bachelor of Geology, with a Geotechnical specialisationVacation experience working at an underground mine would be an advantage;Working knowledge of Surpac & Deswik software is preferred;High degree of self-motivation with the ability to work as part of a team or autonomously;Excellent communication skills;Have a current, manual "C" class Western Australian driver’s licence;Be able to obtain a National Police Clearance.This excellent entry-level position offers support and training from experienced and progressive technical professionals.
