King of the Hills is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 4.7 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. The site incorporates both open-pit and underground mining, with further exploration. Koth is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the OSHT& Manager, the Senior OHS Advisor will be primarily responsible for improving the Risk Profile and ensuring compliance and performance against regulatory, Vault Minerals Mine Safety Management System and Hazard Management Standard requirements. This role requires actively leading a team of safety advisors and providing coaching & mentoring of employees & contractors in the effective application of Mine Safety Management System requirements. This includes coordinating all aspects of OHS related elements of contractor management.
The position will be offered as an 8:6, 4:3, 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Implement and maintain the Vault Minerals Mine Safety Management System throughout the KOTH operation
- Monitor, review, audit and improve the risk profile and compliance.
- Coordinate and conduct routine workplace inspections, audits and maintenance inspections of all workplaces.
- Conduct or participate in risk assessments (including high risk tasks) of work activities and monitor compliance to these risk assessments.
- Actively monitor and report employee and contractor performance against Vault Minerals high risk work standards when performing high risk tasks.
- Facilitate and lead in drafting and presenting accident/incident investigations (ICAM & minor investigations) and reports as required.
- Oversee and ensure compliance of the site Health Management Plan and atmospheric/noise monitoring programs
- Complete applicable statutory reports for the Department of Industry Resources as directed by the OHST Manager.
- Implement and review OHS policies and procedures, ensuring that where applicable other operations are also covered.
- Ensure site compliance with the Vault Minerals Mine Safety Management System.
- Provide monthly and weekly datasets for input in the OHS compliance.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in either an open-pit or underground mining environment.
- Hold recognised qualification Diploma in OHS, Cert 4 in WHS or Certificate IV of Workplace Assessing and Training.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the W.A Work Health and Safety Act 2020, Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and associated regulatory advisory material.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, along with strong organisational and clear report-writing skills.
- Ability to solve problems with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential safety concerns.
- Strong communication abilities are essential, as the role requires effective collaboration with various stakeholders to foster a culture of safety.
- Ability to conduct Audits, Investigations, and Workplace Inspections
- Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite with strong computer literacy & demonstrated experience in INX software is essential
- ICAM, or Tap-Root Investigation Training, along with Leader Auditor Certification, is highly desirable.
- Current WA "C" Class driver’s licence.
