Job Description:
Vault Minerals is looking for a qualified Mine Planning Coordinator â Open Pit to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing the future of our mining operations by developing and implementing technical standards, planning procedures, and providing strategic direction. The goal is to optimize the open pit production profile through a comprehensive approach that integrates both planning and production processes.
This role is offered on a 8/6- FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure site compliance with WH&S Act 2020, and relevant regulations, for all appointed statutory positions.
- Lead and assist in the development of short to medium term plans for the open pit, daily, weekly, 13 week, quarterly, Budget and Drill and Blast planning
- Contribute to Life of Mine, Resource & Reserve, and Budget planning to meet strategic objectives and address open pit-related issues.
- Provide expert advice on long-term mine optimisation and studies to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Mining Superintendent and Mine Manager to achieve KPIs by reporting on and improving open pit technical systems.
- Standardise and enforce open pit procedures, processes, and standards in consultation with the Mining Department and contractors.
- Assist in developing and managing the technical services budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Ensure documentation and mining standards are developed, maintained, and adhered to for quality operations.
- Support the development and maintenance of systems and mine design principles for open pit operations.
- Enhance the Technical Services team's capability by setting clear, measurable objectives aligned with organisational goals.
- Provide support for project management and operational activities as needed by the Mining Superintendent and Managers.
- Assist in the management the Mine Services contract, guiding contractors and engineers to improve systems and performance.
- Manage external consultants/contractors for mine planning, geotechnical, and other technical requirements.
- Contribute to improving operational and planning processes to enhance cost efficiency and production value.
- Drive the growth of the organisation by developing, implementing, and maintaining open pit mining systems and standards, while actively seeking and incorporating new mining techniques, technology, and systems to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Enhance mining quality assurance processes to improve adherence to mining standards and the Mining Services Contract.

You are a results-driven mining professional with proven expertise in the following areas:
- Planning: Strong financial acumen to manage budgets and achieve production targets. Skilled in HR management, ensuring a motivated, skilled team. Capable of developing clear, actionable production plans.
- Organisation: Highly ethical with strong governance skills. Able to deploy resources effectively and ensure timely, quality results. Decisive with a focus on implementation and efficiency.
- Problem-Solving: Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on innovation, cost-effectiveness, and process optimisation. Able to analyse and implement solutions to meet client needs.
- Leadership: Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or engineering roles. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement, influence others, and overcome challenges.
- EQ: Resilient and capable of handling stress while achieving objectives. Skilled in team dynamics and building high-performance teams. Strong influence and compliance focus.
Key factors to your success include:
- 3-5 years in a senior open pit mine engineering role.
- Deep knowledge of open pit mining standards and methods.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams in medium to large operations.
- Expertise in mine planning, engineering, and technology.
- Strong understanding of mining legislation and safety requirements in WA.
- Proven track record in budgeting, cost management, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale mining contractors.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
- Willing to attain WA Quarry Managers Certification
