Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits. Deflector processing facilities consist of a CIP circuit and a second ball mill, along with crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering circuits.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance to mechanical equipment in the Deflector Gold Processing Plant, borefields, site infrastructure and village.
The position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and working within site safety structures, including adhering to site safety directives, conducting risk assessments, JHA’s and take 5’s and developing and working to SOPs
- Carrying out Preventive and Planned Maintenance on fixed plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation and CIP circuits
- Regular maintenance on the crushing circuit, which includes jaw crusher, cone crushers, as well as screens, pan, vibrating feeders and conveyors
- Undertaking Pump rebuilds on slurry, centrifugal and peristaltic pumps, as well as with repairs and maintenance of associated piping and valves
- Conduct maintenance and repairs to ancillary plant such as wastewater treatment, RO plant, bore pumps and generators.
About You
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter)
- 5+ years post-apprenticeship mine site experience would be desirable
- Experience in using Pronto maintenance systems and recording and reporting history on plant and equipment would be preferred
- Methodical and resourceful in fault finding
- High level of experience with general fitting activities in a mineral processing plant
- Excellent crusher maintenance experience, in particular with Metso crushers
- Experience in maintaining filter presses and sound knowledge of flotation systems is desirable.
- CN Franna crane ticket & RB basic rigging ticket would be desirable
- Confined space, Work at heights, Forklift & Dogging tickets are essential
- Poly welding, HR licence and High-Risk licenses such as scaffolding, EWP will be highly regarded
- Experience with pump and hydraulic system fault-finding will be highly regarded
- Hold a current C Class driver’s license and Senior First Aid Certificate
- Working knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
