Mine Geologist

Deflector is a high-grade, narrow vein Gold and Copper mine that is located 160km east of Geraldton. It has a current 5-year mine life, with the ore body open at depth and along strike. The ore is comprised of multiple shear-hosted veins, stacked sub-vertically within the metabasalt host rock. Having recently started ore development along the high-grade South-West lodes accessed from the newly established second decline, it is an exciting time to join this high-margin success story.THE ROLE:Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, this role will be responsible for the underground grade control function of the deposit. You will ensure ore development is mined to optimise stope extraction and manage core logging and sampling of Grade Control drill programs. The role will also provide assistance in both the planning and implementation of drill programs, reconciliations and modelling of the deposit.Key responsibilities of this role will include:Day to day grade control operationsMapping and samplingDesign and monitoring of grade control drilling programsAssisting in the production of grade control block modelsProviding daily, weekly and monthly grade control reports on mine geology, grade drivers and ore reconciliationCommunicate geological and grade data to mining, management and contractor personnel to achieve production targetsEnsuring that planning maximises recovery and minimises ore loss and dilution.ABOUT YOU:As a passionate and results-driven professional, you will bring your technical expertise and analytical approach to this dynamic and challenging role. In addition to this you have:Tertiary qualifications in GeologySome experience in an underground mining environmentA sound understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drillingProficiency using Surpac, Datamine and Leapfrog geological software packagesExposure with 3D modelling would be preferredA methodical approach to data management and validation processesGold experience highly regarded.This exciting role is offered on an 8:6, 7:7 FIFO basis from Perth and offers the opportunity to be part of an exceptional, social and high-performing team.
