Project Mine Geologist, Rothsay

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the start-up of a new underground Gold Mine, the Rothsay project. Recently acquired from Egan Street Resources, Rothsay is located in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, approximately 60km north-east of Perenjori and 85km south-east of Silver Lake’s Deflector Operations.  Preparations underway for the commencement of site works, including amending existing site licenses and permits and preparing to dewater the historical Rothsay underground workings.THE ROLE:We are looking for a driven and focused Project Mine Geologist to play an integral part in the development and success of this exciting new asset. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be responsible for managing the Grade Control function to maximise ore extraction, as well as plan and manage Grade Control drill programmes. Providing day to day direction to Production Geologists and Geological technicians, you will form a key part of this dedicated project team.Other responsibilities will include:Ensure ore is extracted to maximise recovery and minimise ore loss and dilutionEnsure accurate and timely recording of production data and the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reportsDesign, monitor and log grade control and extension drilling programmes to accurately delineate the orebody ahead of miningMonitor actual development and stoping excavations in comparison to planned, including the grade, lithology and overbreak.Ensure all plans and sections are updated with production, survey and drilling dataWork closely with Silver Lake technical team and the underground contractor to effectively communicate geological, geotechnical and grade informationAssist with the interpretation of the grade control data to produce wireframe modelsAssist in the production of grade control block modelsProvide mentoring and leadership to Production Geologists and Geological Technicians providing clear timeframes and expectations on set tasksIdentify specific areas that have the potential for improvement and cost savingsAssume the role of the Senior Mine Geologist in their absence ABOUT YOU:You are an innovative, highly motivated individual with a hard-working attitude and a creative approach to problem solving. Geology or Applied Geology)Minimum 3+ years post-graduate experience within the resources industryA sound understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drillingWorking knowledge and understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and RegulationsExperience in underground mining production environment is essentialExperience in Narrow vein gold deposits is highly desirableAble to distinguish ore and waste within underground environmentsProficiency with Microsoft Office, Surpac and Leapfrog, Data Entry and LogChief softwareCurrent WA "C" Class Driver’s LicenseCurrent ‘Apply First Aid’ CertificateThe role is offered on an 8 & 6 roster, back to back with the Senior Geologist.  Within the first 3 months, the FIFO location will be Deflector minesite, where you will work closely with the Senior Geologist and Chief Geologist to establish procedures, processes and standards for the new operation.  Once constructed, the role will be 8 & 6 FIFO to Rothsay.
